This HACCP training course conducted by BIO|FOOD|TECH is a comprehensive three day course covering all aspects of the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) concept as it relates to all sectors of food processing. Covers the requirements for Canadian QMP and FSEP programs. This is a hands on course with 50 % of the course time spent preparing a
HACCP plan for a product chosen by the participants.

There will be a cap on the number of registrants accepted in order to comply with physical distancing guidelines. We ask that you bring a mask for times distancing is not an option.

Sampler Box Program

The U.S. Trade Commissioner Services is developing programs that allow them to connect with buyers more regularly as well as develop new contacts with more ease. One of these programs is to deliver Sampler Boxes consisting of curated shelf-stable products and marketing material to buyers. This is a way to reach buyers who might be a significant distance from their home office or even just easily get new products in front of buyers they work with locally. The provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador have partnered with the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) to provide discounted shipping for companies within their province to participate in this program.

The August 26th Virtual Food Automation Conference was a great success!

What has your association been up to in 2020?

  • We completed various Food Safety Training (in person earlier this year and a virtual session about Food Safety during COVID-19 earlier this summer)
  • We hosted a 2-day U.S. Capacity Building Conference to educate our members on all things related to exporting to the USA.
  • We hosted 2 Food Automation Conferences (Halifax and St-John’s). A Virtual Food Automation Conference took place on August 26th
  • We hosted an International Trade Show for 42 Atlantic Canadian Food, Beverage, and Seafood companies to showcase to Buyers from North America, South America, and Asia.  Over 250 buyers attended, and hundreds of business meetings took place. See the event recap published by ACOA here.
  • We facilitated a Pitch session for over 20 Atlantic Canada food and beverage companies to present their product to Sobeys.  These sessions were held mid-July and were very successful. We look forward to the results and finding some of these new local products in our regional Sobeys stores!
  • To date over 70 CTV What’s For Dinner segments have aired and FBA members have had the opportunity to showcase product to hundreds of thousands of weekly viewers. Our members have reaped positive results and increased sales after each episode. Stay tuned every Wednesday for new features! If you would like to be featured, apply here! 
  • With the support of ACOA, we have put in place a program to support the cost of shipping Samples to Buyers around the world.  If you have a Buyer who has requested a sample of your product, contact sara@atlanticfood.ca to inquire about how some of your costs can be subsidized.
